Sustain Dane seeks an experienced, dynamic Executive Director to capture the opportunity to build on its 10 years of success. The Madison/Dane County area is well known for its strong progressive tradition and is an ideal place to develop a leading model of a truly sustainable community. Job Description
Overview of position
The Executive Director’s primary job will be to guide new efforts to significantly enhance the scale and scope of sustainability oriented outcomes/direction in the Madison area. Working with staff and board, this position is responsible for implementation of strategies that have high leverage and high impact, ensures quality and effective programs and services, strengthens Sustain Dane’s capacity, and enhances operational effectiveness. This will be enhanced by a close collaborative relationship between the Executive Director and the Associate Director with each of them building off the other to help Sustain Dane achieve its potential.
We are looking for Candidates with 7 to 10 years in a leadership role at an organization, with a strong track record of success. Candidate must be able to cultivate strong working relationships with staff, board members, and key leaders in the community. This position will naturally require strong skills in motivating, consensus building, and community engagement. An advanced degree and a background in sustainability are preferred.
This position includes a compensation package commensurate with the preferred candidate’s experience. This position will remain open until the appropriate candidate is identified, with first round interviews beginning in mid-November and a strong desire to fill the position by the end of the year.
