Illinois has already lost nearly 90% of its historic wetlands. Now, recent federal changes have stripped protections from most of what remains, putting hundreds of thousands of acres at risk.

Wetlands protect our communities. They reduce flooding, filter drinking water, and provide habitat for wildlife across Illinois. The Wetlands Protection Act (HB3596/SB2401) would establish clear, science-based protections to safeguard remaining wetlands while guiding responsible development.
