Chicago was close to losing its main downtown intercity bus station in 2024, but the public fought to save it. Now a long-term solution to save and fix the station is in sight. The City of Chicago has a plan to purchase and renovate the station, but City Council must approve it. Contact your Alderman to save the intercity bus service thousands rely on and make it better for the future.
Intercity bus service is a vital lifeline for many travelers, and Chicago’s station is an essential Midwest hub, connecting people to jobs, family, education, and more. With a publicly owned station more bus companies could offer service, improving connections with less people waiting on the curb. New York, Los Angeles, Washington, Atlanta, Boston, Minneapolis, and other cities have publicly owned bus hubs. Chicago should too.
City Council must act fast to buy the station and improve intercity bus service for Chicago. Contact your Alderman today.
