Dave Scott

Dave Scott is a Senior Attorney at ELPC focused on protecting the Midwest’s wild and natural places and Great Lakes. Prior to joining ELPC, Dave spent two decades as a partner and associate at Schiff Hardin LLP and ArentFox Schiff LLP. He has substantial experience litigating complex cases in federal and state courts across the country. His experience includes multiple bench and jury trials, as well as appeals, and encompasses a wide range of areas of law such as environmental, renewable energy, class actions, and commercial disputes. Dave’s past public interest work included representing a death row inmate, asylum seekers, and civil rights and civil liberties litigants. He has also led groups participating in Rebuilding Together Metro Chicago’s National Rebuilding Day for the last 16 years. Dave lives with his wife and two daughters in the northern suburbs of Chicago.

WHAT’S A PLACE YOU LOVE IN THE MIDWEST?

Our family loves Lake Michigan. We enjoy riding bikes to the beach, swimming and paddleboarding, and walking our dog along the bluffs overlooking the lake. Whenever we can, we also like to get away to beautiful lakeshore destinations like Indiana Dunes and Door County, Wisconsin.

WHAT DRIVES YOU TO DO THIS WORK?

I love the outdoors! Too often we take for granted the beauty, importance, and fragility of the wild and natural places around us. I am grateful to have the opportunity to work toward protecting and conserving those places.
