Karsten Neumeister

Karsten is a Media Relations Specialist at ELPC, collaborating with the press to build public awareness for ELPC’s clean energy and climate-related issues in the Midwest. He brings years of experience in solar contracting, environmental journalism, strategic communications for energy trade organizations, and advocacy for equitable clean energy access. Originally from the Chicago-land area, Karsten lives in the Uptown neighborhood of Chicago.

WHAT’S A PLACE YOU LOVE IN THE MIDWEST?

I would have to choose the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness in Michigan’s upper peninsula. I also love to visit Devil’s Lake in Wisconsin, as it offers some of the best outdoor rock climbing within an easy trip from Chicago.

WHAT DRIVES YOU TO DO THIS WORK?

I’ll never tire of working to improve the health of our environment, but I especially love working in energy and climate as those issues touch on everything: equity, biodiversity, economics, culture, technology, and more. I enjoy thinking in systems, where there’s always more to learn.
