Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, by a 10-10 vote, Moves to Advance U.S. EPA Assistant Administrator Nominees David Uhlmann and Carlton Waterhouse to the Senate Floor for Confirmation

Statement by Howard A. Learner Executive Director, Environmental Law & Policy Center

Today, the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, by a 10-10 vote, moved to advance U.S. EPA nominees David Uhlmann for Assistant Administrator for Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance, and Carlton Waterhouse for Assistant Administrator for Office of Solid Waste for confirmation.

“David Uhlmann and Carlton Waterhouse are highly-qualified nominees for leadership-level positions at U.S. EPA to help better achieve healthier clean air, safer clean water, and communities with less toxic risks. Their nominations have been stalled for months by partisan politics, and the logjam finally began to break today. We urge the full Senate to promptly take the necessary actions confirm both David Uhlmann and Carlton Waterhouse so that they can join U.S. EPA as soon as possible to better protect our environment and public health for all.”
