 STATEMENT BY ANN MESNIKOFF
ELPC’s Federal Legislative Director

“The US EPA’s scope is vast, from protecting the Great Lakes and clean water across the Midwest to ensuring the air we breathe is safe. The Environmental Law & Policy Center will continue to ensure the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act are fully implemented in our region.

“The EPA administers programs that are vital to Midwesterners, including the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI), which enjoys bipartisan support in Congress, the Clean School Bus Program that enables kids to have a healthier ride to school on zero-emission buses, and pollution standards for vehicles.

“We urge Administrator Zeldin to guarantee critical programs like the GLRI and our foundational environmental and health laws are carried out without interruption. Additionally, we expect Administrator Zeldin to enforce the laws and rules within the agency’s purview intended to hold polluters accountable for their actions.”
