ELPC is a proud member of the Illinois Clean Jobs Coalition (ICJC). The coalition is made up of hundreds of environmental advocacy organizations, businesses, community leaders, consumer advocates, transportation advocates, environmental justice groups, and faith-based and student organizations. We work together to improve public health and the environment, protect consumers, and create equitable, clean jobs across the state.
After passing the ground-breaking Climate and Equitable Jobs Act in 2021, the coalition has continued to work towards full implementation and new platform proposals, including the urgent need to address transportation in Illinois.
Transportation is the largest source of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in Illinois. The harm from vehicle pollution goes beyond GHGs, and vehicle electrification alone cannot address all the dangers, particularly the negative impacts on low-income individuals and vulnerable road users.
The Climate & Equitable Transportation Act is a nation-leading package of comprehensive transportation and jobs bills from the Illinois Clean Jobs Coalition. These bills work together to direct state transportation investments to reduce pollution, implement long-overdue reforms, and increase access, affordability, safety, and reliability in Illinois’ transportation sector.
